Trempealeau Hotel Link to The Trempealeau Hotel
One of our favorite spots in Trempealeau. Check the website for the live music line up. After a long bike ride or hike, we usually will reward ourselves with a Bloody Mary while we sit on the outdoor deck and admire the Bluffs & Mississippi River. We always enjoy dinner at The Hotel when we are town; family tradition.
Elmaro Winery Link to Elmaro
The winery is actually a nice 7.4 mile bike ride from the cottage. There are some hills. You can use the Great River State Trail for most of the ride (you will need trail passes). Elmaro offers complimentary tastings, picnic packages and education tastings. Check the events page on their website because they always have something going on. The view from the outdoor patio is spectacular and get the cheese plate - delicious. They also offer yoga at the winery so check the schedule.
The River Cafe Link to The River Cafe
Just up the road from the cottage, a great place to catch a good meal for a good price. I love it here for breakfast! You will find menus for The River Cafe in a kitchen drawer. They are opened for breakfast and lunch everyday except Tuesday. Randy & Maggie Breidel will take good care of you.
Another favorite of ours. A nice bike ride or walk from the cottage. The view of the Mississippi is spectacular at Hungry Point. It's a place to just kick back and chill. Food is good - our fav is the tackle box; a whole lot of fried up veggies. Let's just say, I always make sure I had a good ride or hike in before I hit Hungry Point.
Winghaven Pizza Farm Link to Winghaven Pizza Farm
Located in Galesville (about 15 minutes) but who cares. Winghaven offers Stone-Fired Pizzas, wine and beer at the family farm. They are only open on the weekends and this is seasonal because it's outside on the farm in a renovated barn - really cool atmosphere. The pizza is really good. It makes for an enjoyable evening - good pizza, wine and live music. Checkout their Facebook page for the lineup: WHFB
Sullivan's Supper Club Link to Sullivan's
Sullivan's is a 3.3 mile walk or bike ride from the cottage located at the entrance of Perrot State Park. They don't keep their website up to date but I think they just finished renovating the outdoor deck offering a scenic dinning experience. You may want to check out the Happy Hours Specials - 50% off all appetizers. Go sit on the deck which has an incredible view of the River, order some fried cheese curds and enjoy a beverage.
Driftless Bike and Bean Driftless Bike and Bean
Right on Main Street. The place offers coffee, coffee drinks and ice cream. Look for the new sandwich shop located next door in the caboose. Brad (owner) is super cool - we love him! He will make you feel real welcome to his hometown of Trempealeau.
Ecker's Apple Farm Beer Garden Hog's Back Brew Farm
Hog's Back Brew Farm is a beer garden located among the apple trees at Ecker's Apple Farm. The brew farm concept stems from the Farm's desire to make small batch beer using resources on the farm. Open Friday - Sunday and they usually have live music.
Garden of Eat'in Garden of Eat'in Facebook
Located in downtown Galesville (about 15 minutes). This is a funky fun diner which is open 6:30 am to 2:30 pm and plays only classic rock. Expect lines on the weekend. Breakfast is all day until closing.
